The Mathematics Pentathlon problem solving games provide a highly motivational format for developing and practicing important math concepts. While playing games in cooperative groups, students strengthen their strategic thinking and critical reasoning abilities. For more information on the general program, visit http://www.mathpentath.org Math Pentathlon Program at KikerThe Math Pentathlon Club at Kiker is sponsored by 5th Grade Teacher Br. Bryson, and a team of parent volunteers. The Club will meet various Monday evenings at Kiker beginning in January. Students will learn the fun games in division age groups led by parent volunteers. Members of Math Pentathlon are eligible to participate in the Texas area tournament held in Austin. Each student should have a parent volunteer who is willing to learn one of the games and help supervise at the tournament. Pentathlon Divisions & Tournament Dates - 2013 SeasonDivision I (Grades K - 1) *Tournament Date: March 23, 2013 How does the club work?In each division there are 5 games which the children will learn and practice over a 10 week period prior to the Math Pentathlon Tournament. Parents are expected to commit to helping teach games to the children on club practice nights as well as volunteer during the tournament at the end of the season. Math Pentathlon club practices are held on Monday evenings at Kiker from 6:30-7:30pm, beginning in January.
